Restore Factory Firmware For 1U

  • Requirements
  • Operation Procedure
  • 1. Open the 1U Box
  • 2. Restore Factory Firmware
  • 3. Installing back the enclosure
🧚
Firmware recovery is only used in rare and special cases, such as when OTA firmware corruption occurs, or when the sensor has suffered firmware damage for some other reason. the S2 processor used in the 1U is quite special, and the procedure adds a few more steps to the process.

Requirements

  • A modern browser: Edge, Chrome. if you are on a Mac please use Chrome or Edge, the current web serial port does not seem to be compatible with Safari.
  • A USB-C cable with data transfer for accessing the computer on one end and the 1U sensor on the other.
  • Don't panic!

Operation Procedure

1. Open the 1U Box

You will need a sharp object to open the box, we recommend a spoon. Please refer to the video below to open the 1U.

Use a spoon to open the 1U shell.
⚠️
Please be careful with the strength, excessive force may damage the circuitry inside.

2. Restore Factory Firmware

💡
If these processes seem convoluted, compare the accompanying demo video below.
Re-write factory firmware for 1U

Steps

  • Remove the board and plug it into the computer with a USB-C cable on one end and power up the sensor on the other. With the sensor powered up, press and hold the BOOT button while pressing and releasing RST. At this point the power light should go off and it is in DFU mode.
  • Use your computer's browser to go to the web page https://tool.screek.io/factory_tool/1u/ , click CONNECT, select the serial port of S2, the name demonstrated here is the name on Mac, on Windows it may be shown as COM1, COM2 and other serial numbers.

  • After writing the firmware is complete, re-power up the 1U by:
    • Disconnect the USB cable and plug it in again.
    • Reboot by pressing the RST key on the board, etc.

At this point the 1U should resume all normal functions, including flashing lights normally and displaying the distribution network hotspot (all previous configuration information will be erased).

  • If necessary at this point you can also use an online tool to view the days and configure the WIFI network as shown below:

3. Installing back the enclosure

Now all you have to do to restore the enclosure is to remove the USB cable, place the board into the 1U enclosure and snap it on with a little force. Be careful to align the snap position, here is a demo video:
