Background
In a test we carried out using the latest MacBook, we found that a USB-C to USB-C cable was unable to power the BP1, meaning the configuration tool could not be used, which made network configuration difficult.
Causes
The core component used in BP1 lacks USB-C negotiation capabilities, which prevents the Mac Mini or MacBook from powering the device. This manifests as no new serial devices appearing; when you open the configuration utility and plug in the device, nothing changes.
We have not yet tested this on Windows and Android, but we suspect there may be similar effects.
⭐️Solutions
Our tests revealed that this issue can be resolved simply by using a standard USB-C to USB-A hub; the devices then operate in standard USB mode, without the need for voltage negotiation, and are recognised correctly.
On a Mac, there is no need to install any additional drivers; they are recognised automatically, and you will be able to see the BP1 in the configuration tool.
