In the new testing we’ve started, we hope to enjoy playing with them more. Building them can sometimes feel a bit tedious, but we like playing with the DIY sensors we use every day.
In this new test environment, we were surprised by the temperature and humidity performance of the SHT45. With the exposed extended probe, it eliminates the influence of ESP32 heat and avoids the effects of probe enclosure. Combined with the excellent performance of the expensive SHT45 chip, this leads to an interesting result: their humidity readings appear almost identical, as if copied.
What else can we learn here? Due to the allowable error in sensors like the SHT40, there will be some differences between two sensors’ readings.
So what can this high level of accuracy be used for? Obviously, it has little significance for typical home scenarios. However, for scientific research or reptile incubation, it may have interesting value—situations where precise temperature and humidity control is desired.
