Thanks to the convenience of ESPHome, which combines the excellent SPS30 and SCD40 sensors, we’ve shared quite a few ENV-CP sensors. Overall, they’ve been working rather well, and we’re delighted to have shared them—oh, it’s been quite a journey. We also love the design of that little square box – it’s compact, minimalist and free of any unnecessary frills. It’s simply a case of plugging it in and it’s ready to go, with no endless complicated steps involved. Just plug it in, power it up, configure the network within half a minute, and you can forget about it from then on, adding a reliable monitor to your home environment. Perhaps the most interesting aspect is the accuracy: minimising the impact of the housing on the sensor as much as possible. In comparisons between the SPS30 on its own (without a housing) and the SCD40 alongside various other CO₂ sensors, the curves appear consistent across the board. I believe this indicates that the sensor is performing well—operating simply, stably and accurately.
